KG Legal participated in an online seminar carried out by the specialists in cross-border disputes: Mrs. Adriana Uson from the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and Mrs. Danielle Carr – Senior Associate (Australia) in SCA ONTIER LLP in London.
Some of the other participants were from SAP, Hilti, Metlife, Vodafone Hutchison, NCR Corporation, John Deere, Skadden, Optum Global Solutions, UPL Limited and TATA Steel.
The webinar involved the key methods for resolving cross-border disputes, minimising the risk of them and managing them in the course of proceedings.
It was indicated that in legal disputes time is an essential factor for parties to the dispute. While cross-border litigation is often connected with the troubles of vagaries of local courts and different results provided by foreign jurisdictions, the arbitration centres offer quicker hearing dates and offer participants some kind of influence on the outcome of the proceedings. Such dispute resolution method also provides better chances at enforcing any granted awards and guarantees secrecy of the hearings. Worldwide, the arbitration becomes more and more popular in the environment of the multinational companies.
The speakers shared the insights on different proceedings related to mediation, arbitration, arb-med-arb, early negotiation techniques, drafting effective arbitration clauses and creating early case evaluation and following settlement strategies.
