The presence of Albert Einstein in Polish physics – master lecture by prof. Hanoch Gutfreund and promotion of the book Maria Skłodowska-Curie – Albert Einstein. Letters

On 25 February 2025 lawyers of KIELTYKA GLADKOWSKI had the honour to participate at the lecture “The presence of Albert Einstein in Polish physics | master lecture by prof. Hanoch Gutfreund and promotion of the book Maria Skłodowska-Curie • Albert Einstein. Letters /1911-1932/”.

Hanoch (Henryk) Gutfreund was born in 1935 in Kraków, into an intelligentsia family, his father Adolf was a lawyer, his mother Ida graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the Jagiellonian University, during the war the family was displaced to Kazakhstan. In 1945 they returned to Krakow, a few years later they left for Israel.

He spent his entire life associated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 1966 he obtained a doctorate in theoretical physics. He held academic and administrative positions at the University – head of the Institute of Physics, head of the Institute of Advanced Studies, rector and president of the University. He was one of the initiators and founders of the Center for Neural Computation, and is currently a member of the Center, where he also lectures.

Prof. Gutfreund is the director of the Einstein Center and the person responsible for the intellectual property of Albert Einstein; he chairs the executive committee of the Israel Science Foundation and is the chairman of the association “Basha’ar – Academic Community for Israeli Society”.
He came to Poland to participate in the promotion of the book “Maria Skłodowska-Curie – Albert Einstein. Letters 1911-1932”, the creation of which he supported and for which he wrote a timeline of Albert Einstein and a critical text.
